The Destination Discovery Lead at St. Peter's Episcopal School is responsible for maintaining and continuing to improve the quality of CDM's after-school program, Destination Discovery, at the school. The position is responsible for ensuring that both the content and presentation of CDM's afterschool programs are of the highest quality and are reflective of the Museum's Learning Framework.

 

Key Responsibilities

  • Help to develop and implement programs reflective of best practice in afterschool programming
  • Model best practice for St Peter's Program staff in program delivery and building relationships with children served by the program
  • Actively fill in and support staff between all classes served by the Destination Discovery program
  • Act as communication liaison among St. Peter's School, Destination Discovery Staff and the Program Manager, ensuring that the Programs' Manager is informed of any issues at St Peter's
  • Keep the Program manager informed about any supervisory issues related to Destination Discovery staff, ensuring that a professional culture for the students and staff is maintained at all times
  • Ensure that St. Peter's staff knows the location of all children at all times, are well informed about any social, emotional or physical issues related to the children served
  • Ensure all children are properly dismissed from Destination Discovery to the designated person
  • Develop and maintain strong professional relationships with the St. Peter's School staff, Destination Discovery children and their parents and the Destination Discovery staff
  • Distribute and collect program evaluations consistently and regularly and use the evaluation analysis to improve programming
  • Attend education staff meetings
  • Schedule monthly staff meetings at Destination Discovery with the Programs Manager
  • Maintain an accurate attendance and billing systems for Destination Discovery, which will include the creation of weekly billing reports to be turned in to the Programs Manager
  • Other duties as assigned

 

Qualifications

  • 4 year degree in an education related field
  • 3 years' experience working with children aged 3 10 years in an afterschool program
  • Experience and ability to work in a team
  • 2 years management experience
  • Interest in development of themed based curriculum
  • General knowledge of child development
  • Knowledge of best practices for educational program delivery
  • Ability to effectively communicate both orally and through written directions
  • Ability to create innovative, fun programs and activities that are accessible by a wide range of ages and audiences
  • Ability to collaborate with CDM content area managers to ensure accurate content in reserved programs
  • Project management skills including the ability to organize and administer programs
  • Strong computer skills
  • High energy level
